My GreenRoom friends…
July 4, 2007 · 3 Comments
Hi – great to see you again, my GreenRoom friends – Red Shoes is the first to find me in my new place/s. Thanks Red Shoes!
I chose this pic today, because it reminds me of MY big dog. I have always been a cat person (as people who know me will be aware), but for the last two years or so, I have had a big dog, which I got from the pound: a ridgeback/mastiff cross – who is now getting along pretty much OK with my cats.
She is about 3 years old now. I call her Eddie (short for Edina – from Ab Fab – Eddie and Patsy?!?) She’s great for security – and excellent fpor keeping me warm at night. YES _ she DOES sleep on my bed – and yes, I KNOW that’s not ideal – but she IS very warm. And it IS winter here, at present…
Still, NOT a perfect arrangement. I’m aware of that.
But as long as there’s no competition for the extra place in the bed, why should I give up the warmth and comfort?
Anyone else willing to admit to having this problem?
i’ve been ON my job: SLEEPIN’!

seriously now, sorry i’ve been absent. i think it’s partly because at another blog that i visit daily, there was a little flurry of posting back and forth about an anonymous respondent who had upset someone, inadvertently i am sure.
it reminded me of how hazardous the internet is. we expose parts of our ’selves’ in good faith, and sometimes don’t anticipate what we get back. almost always, it is appropriate and friendly and even supportive or grateful and rather wonderful. but just occasionally, communication wires get crossed in some way, and people take sides instantly – THAT scares me, how quickly people align themselves with only ONE opinion/ one perspective…instead of trying to untangle the misunderstanding/unravle the threads and be sure we all understand what was meant and/or how it came across… it seems like primary school, when you could only be ONE persons ‘best’ friend, and had to DECLARE your side publicly (and reject all others) to shore up your position.
the other reason i haven’t posted – even to put up a photo – is that i was so touched by that ‘head-scratching’ pic, that i keep thinking about it, feeling pleased with it, and wanting THAT to stay in my mind. it’s so sweet.
but, time is moving on. and it’s marvellous to see that - THIS time when i have been absent for a few days – the stats have not dropped off. i.e. people have continued to visit anyway. whereas ‘before’, if i didn’t post, they dropped off. so, i know people are out there, dropping in to read or view – and i DO WANT to keep you ‘near’ me!
for the first time in my life i have a dishwasher where i live, and i really appreciate it – but the DOG does do just as good a job, when she gets hold of a plate.
so, i appreciate this lolcat. my CATS, OTOH, always leave a few crumbs!

BEST job ever: sleepin’

Relating this pic to my previous post, my animals make me happy.
That IS their job, in a way. Their job is to be themselves, of course. And by doing that, they give me so much happiness. I often go to sleep, or wake up to their bodies beside me and the awareness that this is surely bliss – to lie down with your pack and all sleep together, warm and well-fed and calm and safe, for now.
